As an explorer you have to be aware of the deadly creatures
that roam the Earth. So on the back of every card, there
is a ‘deadly creature count’ which tells you which
dangerous beasts live in which countries.
Below tells you a bit about 10 of the deadliest creatures.
Listen up because you do not want to be gobbled up by a
bear, bitten by a shark or stung by a jellyfish on your travels…
BEAR fact: The best way to tell the age of a bear
is to count the rings inside its tooth just like a tree

Why are they deadly?
Bears look cute and cuddly but beware. Get between
a bear and its cub and it could rip off your head with
one swipe of its giant paw.
BEAR fact: Elephants have soft cushions under
their feet so they can walk silently

Why are they deadly?
Not every elephant is as nice as Dumbo. Elephants
kill more than 500 people a year. They can use their huge
feet to stomp on you, or spike you with their sharp
tusks if they feel threatened.
BEAR fact: Hippos oily red sweat acts as sunblock,
moisturiser and germ protector

Why are they deadly?
Hippos have huge and terrifying teeth and are one of the
worlds most aggressive animals. Don’t be fooled by their
short stocky legs, they can easily outrun humans.

Why are they deadly?
Meat chomping canines, lightning quick on their feet and
razor sharp claws – big cats are almost perfect hunters.
You would not want to be chased by a hungry one,
they would eat you alive.
BEAR fact: Crocodiles’ sweat through their mouth, that’s why you see
them on riverbanks lying with their mouths wide open

Why are they deadly?
Don’t mistake crocs for logs. Watch out, for they lurk
creepily in the swamps and in the blink of an eye, they’ll
lunge at prey, pulling it under water to drown and destroy.
BEAR fact: Snakes can’t bite food so have to swallow it whole.
Imagine eating a goat whole. Nope, we can’t either.

Why are they deadly?
Some snakes are venomous and bite to kill their prey,
others squeeze it really tight. There are 50,000 deaths
by snakebites in the world every year. Ssssssscary.

Yes, they’re keeping an eye on you.

Why are they deadly?
Luckily not all spiders are deadly. However, the bite of
some spiders could kill you. Watch out for the black
widow spider which is the most deadly spider out there.
It is called a ‘black widow’ because the females eat
the male after mating.
BEAR fact: A group of jellyfish is called a ‘smack’

Why are they deadly?
The box jellyfish is salad-bowl sized and can have up to
60 tentacles each as long as a car. Each tentacle has
5000 stinging cells and enough poison to kill 60 humans.

BEAR fact: Frogs carry their tadpole babies around
on their backs – it is known as ‘backpacking’

Don’t be fooled by these brightly coloured little hoppers.
The ‘poison dart frog’ contains enough poison to kill 10
men and the Emberá people of Colombia use its deadly
venom to tip their blowgun darts when hunting.
